In 2006 the University of California, in Los Angeles reported the use of Licorice root to be an effective means in killing two of the MAJOR bacteria responsible for promotiry gum disease. Licoricidin & Licorisoflavan-A, were the primary agents used from the Licorice Root, to fight off these bacteria.
In addtion to dental care Licorice Root has been proven effective against other ailments such as:
- Relaxing expectorant (soothes coughs)
- Demulcent (soothes effects on contact)
- Anti- inflammatory
- Anti-ulcer against gastrointestinal ulcers
- laxative
- Adaptogenic tonic (increases resistance to the effects of physical, mental and emotional stress)

Licorice root is probably one of the most over looked of all herbal remedies. It has been well documented to work in a large spectrum of ailments.
