Habitat
Hawthorn originated from china, however it grows in much of the Northern Hemisphere. Hawthorn bushes can survive a cold frost. Hawthorn is commonly found in fields, coastal plains, pastures, and lightly wooded areas.
Description
Hawthorn bushes are related to the rose bush, however they may grow between 10′-30′. They produce a round berry like fruit, and are heavily armed with thorn ridden branches. Hawthorn bushes often produce an order similar to rotting fish, which attracts many insects.
Hawthorn’s Medicinal Properties
Hawthorn leaves, fruit, and flowers have been known to strengthen the heart, and in some cases, have been found to help with mild heart failure.
